Ombudsman Manager - Coventry

Is fairness as important to you as it is us?

Location – Coventry Friargate

Starting salary £51,750 and excellent benefits

We’re the Financial Ombudsman Service and we’re currently looking for ombudsman managers to join us.

When things go wrong between a consumer and financial businesses they look to us to resolve their dispute. We do this by reviewing the evidence and using sound judgement to reach an appropriate conclusion that is fair – and feels fair to both sides.

As an ombudsman manager you’ll review cases and write legally binding decisions on complaints relating to UK regulated financial services products. You may also be asked to defend those decisions, when challenged, by telephone and in writing, so strong written and verbal communications are essential.

You’ll lead a team of investigators (between 5-7) to ensure they manage their caseload, by coaching and developing them to analyse evidence with precision and increase their product knowledge and productivity.

It’s a challenging role, but also rewarding. You and your team will help to resolve difficult and sensitive complaints, which sometimes result in life changing outcomes, or have significant impacts for financial businesses.

Please see attached job profile.

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria:
  • ability to evaluate information and use sound judgement, sometimes in the absence of all of the evidence, to reach a conclusion
  • experience of persuasive writing – delivering individual, evidence based outcomes showing logical, clear and concise decision making
  • experience of delivering explanations, opinions and outcomes, over the phone
  • leading, developing and motivating a team working at pace and in what is often a pressured and challenging environment
  • demonstrate the ability to absorb and share technical knowledge across the team

We will be holding interviews  from 11 November. Please let us know on your application form of any dates you would be unable to attend.

We are looking for successful candidates to start in January and February 2020

Please upload your application by 11.59pm on Sunday 27 October 2019.
