2 x legal counsel – permanent
Salary £57,000 - £65,000 depending on skills and experience – London Docklands

Our legal and jurisdiction team has responsibility for providing legal advice and support to the Financial Ombudsman Service across a broad range of legal areas, including acting for the ombudsman in litigation.

We are looking for a solicitor or barrister qualified in England & Wales (or an equivalent jurisdiction) to join us as legal counsel. You will work with the team to provide advice to our organisation on all legal and jurisdiction matters and help us build legal knowledge across the ombudsman service.

We are looking for someone with [recent] experience in the regulatory, commercial or public sectors, or in private practice.  Ideally you will have some experience in one or more of the following areas: Public law, financial services law and regulation, litigation, information law, employment law or contracts and procurement. You will maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant legal, regulatory and policy issues that currently, or could potentially, affect us. You will support less experienced members of the team in developing and learning.  And you will become involved in training to the organisation on various legal issues, so good presentation skills are important.
